On October 18, 2022, the Sarajevo ACM-W Professional Chapter organized its first cybersecurity awareness event at the International University of Sarajevo, marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The hybrid event brought together representatives from Cisco Systems, MIBO Komunikacije, and Deloitte from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as online participants from Spain, Portugal, and Azerbaijan. The event was open to all genders.
The event aimed to raise awareness about digital hygiene and online safety. Industry speakers presented on the cybersecurity landscape and career paths in the field. The event concluded with a panel discussion featuring four IUS students, Fatima Muftić, Ali Zaimović, Anela Čoković, and Erna Berbić, who shared their experiences navigating the digital world and the precautions they take to protect their data and identity online.
This was the first in what has since become the chapter's annual cybersecurity series, part of its professional development activities connecting students with industry professionals and raising awareness about cybersecurity as a career path for all, including women in computing.
