Amal Mersni, Chapter Chair, was featured in the ACM-W Europe October 2022 newsletter as part of the chapter spotlight series. In her feature, she shared her journey of establishing the Sarajevo ACM-W Professional Chapter, the first ACM-W professional chapter in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after moving from Ukraine to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She described being inspired by Oleksandra Yeremenko and a local event organized by the Kharkiv ICT ACM-W Chapter, which motivated her to work towards combating the gender imbalance in computing. On April 28, 2022, the chapter was officially announced during the first Girls in ICT Day event at the International University of Sarajevo.
This feature reflects the chapter's growing presence in the European ACM-W network and its contribution to advancing women in computing across the region.
