WomENcourage 2024 – Madrid, Spain

The Sarajevo ACM-W Professional Chapter was represented at the 11th ACM Celebration of Women in Computing (womENcourage 2024) , held on 26–28 June 2024 at the School of Engineering, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. The theme of the conference was "Responsible Computing for Gender Equality."

The chapter was represented by Amal Mersni, Chapter Chair; Özge Büyükdağlı, Chapter Vice Chair; and Soundharya Parashuram, CSE student and Chapter Member. Soundharya Parashuram was awarded a womENcourage scholarship to attend the event.

Workshop

Pınar Ünal-Aydın from the IUS Psychology Program, together with her international research team, delivered a workshop titled "Growth Mindset and Resilience: Thriving Through Setbacks."

Conference highlights

The three-day event brought together more than 60 student posters, over 15 workshops from industry and academia, keynotes, a hackathon, and a career fair. Workshop providers included Airbus, Telefónica, and Scalian Spain. Keynotes were delivered by Marta Villegas and Virginia Dignum.
